My muse has been sleeping for two months! I was going crazy wishing she'd wake up. Finally, she did. This is something I wrote for my best and dearest friend, Vicky, on her birthday. It started out as a song in my head, but I don't have the voice to make it what I hear. Vicky does though...*wink* Anyway, it's posted here as a poem and birthday gift to one special fruitcake. Happy Birthday, Beautiful!
Then There Were Two
We all have our trials, demons to face.
It seems I’ve had more than my share.
More than once, I’d lose my way
Give up, just stand and stare.
I’d look around for some kind of sign,
Something to lift me up.
That was the moment you came to my life.
You gave me something to love.
When the world has kicked me down,
When I don’t have the strength to run,
I remember the moments you made me smile.
Down on my knees, I look up
I look up to you.
We’re all coasting along in this crazy world.
Most times, I’m just rambling on.
When I need a lighthouse to guide me
Back home before the dawn
You are never too far away
To sort out the fork in the road.
And when I need a shoulder to cry on,
You’re arms become my home.
When the night just gets too dark,
When I’m too low to see the sun,
Your laughter expels most any shadow.
Lonely and cold, I reach out
I reach out to you.
Then warm arms enfold me,
Your love fills me with hope.
I can smile and know what it is
To treasure such a blessed gift.
This wondrous joy I feel inside
For having someone to understand,
Empowers my dreams, overtaking me.
I am no longer, and never will be alone.

To have this friend, to know this connection ... what a gift. You remind me of what is possible, Amber. Hugs (and to Vicky too, on her birthday)

I'm glad to know I can give back what I receive from you all everyday. To be reminded of all the wondrous possibilities, to have hope, that's what you all give me and I love you for it. *hugs*

Good job! :D
ReplyDeleteAnd the happiest of birthdays to Vicky...
What can I say, really...
ReplyDeleteYou know you can always count on me, no matter what. You're growing, and it's a beautiful thing. May be silly or cliche, but know all of it is true, always.
You're just so much better than me to say things!
Big hugs, Fruitcake.
